Obama just loves women…

An interesting comment posted after an article concerning Obama’s sexism….

One has to wonder about how he chooses to interact with women in a PC world. From Maureen Dowd:

Hillary has clearly raised Obama’s consciousness about the importance of courting the ladies. Touring a manufacturing plant in Allentown, Pa., Tuesday, he was flirtatious, winking and grinning at the women working there, calling one “Sweetie,” telling another she was “beautiful,” and imitating his daughters’ dance moves by twirling around. Later, at a Scranton town hall, he went up to Denise Mercuri, a pharmacist from Dunmore wearing a Hillary button. “What do I need to do? Do you want me on my knees?” he charmed, before promising: “I’ll give you a kiss.”

I suppose he was trying to be charming, but it sounds immature, condescending and politically naive coming from the mouth of a presidential candidate. His behavior in Pennsylvania went beyond the “habit” of calling women “sweetie.” As a presidential candidate, he needs to come across as,well, presidential. (I know the standards have been lowered in the last 7 years by the current occupant of the White House, but we should demand more from those aspiring to be president.

Goodbye to all that.

May 16, 2008

From Marie Cocco’s essay in the Washington Post;

As the Democratic nomination contest slouches toward a close, it’s time to take stock of what I will not miss.

I will not miss seeing advertisements for T-shirts that bear the slogan “Bros before Hos.” The shirts depict Barack Obama (the Bro) and Hillary Clinton (the Ho) and are widely sold on the Internet.

I will not miss walking past airport concessions selling the Hillary Nutcracker, a device in which a pantsuit-clad Clinton doll opens her legs to reveal stainless-steel thighs that, well, bust nuts. I won’t miss television and newspaper stories that make light of the novelty item.

I won’t miss episodes like the one in which liberal radio personality Randi Rhodes called Clinton a “big [expletive] whore” and said the same about former vice presidential nominee Read the rest of this entry »

Obama flip flops again…

May 2, 2008

From a recent AP article;

THE SPIN:

Obama argues that Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Republican Sen. John McCain — he calls them “the two Washington candidates” — are pandering to voters by proposing to suspend the federal gas tax of 18.4 cents a gallon for three months. He says a tax holiday would provide consumers little real relief, ignore the country’s energy problems and take money from road and bridge repairs.

“This is the problem with Washington. We are facing a situation where oil prices could hit $200 a barrel. Oil companies like Shell and BP just reported record profits for the quarter. And we’re arguing over a gimmick that would save you half a tank of gas over the course of the entire summer so that everyone in Washington can pat themselves on the back and say that they did something,” Obama says.

THE FACTS:

In 2000, gasoline prices were climbing quickly, reaching $2 a gallon in the Chicago area — a remarkable price back then. Illinois legislators scrambled to offer some election-year relief to angry motorists.

Obama voted three times for a tax holiday.

The version that ended up becoming law required a six-month suspension of the state’s share of the sales tax on gasoline, a 5 percent tax paid directly by consumers rather than gas stations. It also required gas stations to post signs on their pumps saying that the Illinois General Assembly had lowered taxes and the price should reflect that cut.

Hillary Rising…

April 28, 2008

Things are really looking up for the comeback woman, Hillary Clinton. The latest CNN headline reads, “Poll says McCain should fear Clinton.” The poll shows that Clinton beats McCain by 9 points, but in an Obama McCain matchup, it’s a statistical tie. No wonder Karl Rove is dishing out the advice to Obama on how to beat Clinton…

NY Protest Against Skewed Media…

April 25, 2008

Gee I wonder why there was absolutely no mention of this by any mainstream media outlet….

You know you’re becoming a pariah when…

April 24, 2008

even the suggestion of association with you is used in Republican attack ads…

A new ad by the National Republican Senatorial Committee against Al Franken, centering around the mere possiblity that Franken might endorse Obama…

Franken isn’t alone however, the NRSC and local republican groups is using Obama to attack Democrats around the nation.  Here’s a link to a CNN ticker story with more.
