This is an interesting video compilation of the sexist attacks against Hillary by the media, the public, and yes St. Obama himself, set to Hillary’s brave and groundbreaking 1995 UN speech on women’s rights.
To be honest, I would have thought Barack Obama would be right up Sean Penn’s alley. For what little it’s worth, turns out he’s not. He had this to say at Cannes; Read the rest of this entry »
Although it’s probably too late…
Here’s the sweetie link in case you missed it. This is the seciond time he’s called a female reporter sweetie in the last few weeks.
And while we’re on a youtube trip, did you hear Obama’s joke about the 57 United States? Oh wait, it wasn’t a joke…
Barring a stunning reversal of fortune, my party is heading into November with a candidate who thinks the GOP is “the party of ideas,” who badmouths socialized medicine, progressive partisans, liberals (and their Chablis-soaked limos), and who says he was “called to serve” by Christ himself.
As Obama’s former friend and mentor recently noted, “he says what he has to say as a politician.”
Sure, I understand that to overtake a more-popular and more-experienced party rival, it’s necessary and appropriate to destroy her and her husband’s reputation via completely fraudulent charges of racism. Sausage ain’t beanbag, as they say.
But was it necessary to piss away this “change year,” this once-in-several-decades opportunity to repudiate the Reagan Revolution, selling a mere façade of change and propagating — as shystee so succinctly put it — “the absolute fabrication that the problem with Washington is excessive partisanship”? More here.
From a recent AP article;
Obama argues that Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Republican Sen. John McCain — he calls them “the two Washington candidates” — are pandering to voters by proposing to suspend the federal gas tax of 18.4 cents a gallon for three months. He says a tax holiday would provide consumers little real relief, ignore the country’s energy problems and take money from road and bridge repairs.
“This is the problem with Washington. We are facing a situation where oil prices could hit $200 a barrel. Oil companies like Shell and BP just reported record profits for the quarter. And we’re arguing over a gimmick that would save you half a tank of gas over the course of the entire summer so that everyone in Washington can pat themselves on the back and say that they did something,” Obama says.
In 2000, gasoline prices were climbing quickly, reaching $2 a gallon in the Chicago area — a remarkable price back then. Illinois legislators scrambled to offer some election-year relief to angry motorists.
Obama voted three times for a tax holiday.
The version that ended up becoming law required a six-month suspension of the state’s share of the sales tax on gasoline, a 5 percent tax paid directly by consumers rather than gas stations. It also required gas stations to post signs on their pumps saying that the Illinois General Assembly had lowered taxes and the price should reflect that cut.
Things are really looking up for the comeback woman, Hillary Clinton. The latest CNN headline reads, “Poll says McCain should fear Clinton.” The poll shows that Clinton beats McCain by 9 points, but in an Obama McCain matchup, it’s a statistical tie. No wonder Karl Rove is dishing out the advice to Obama on how to beat Clinton…
