…the result is still the same. For the second time (that I’m aware of) during this campaign, the Obama camp has expressed outrage at the Clinton camp’s purported spreading of supposedly damaging information and/or pictures, their source being Robert Novak in the first instance, and Matt drudge in the most recent flap. Now, any democrat that automatically assumes to be true, any claim made by either of these men, is, well, gullible, lazy, or just plain dumb.
Novak and Drudge are notorious right-wing slugs who would love nothing more than to both spread damaging information about Obama, and place the blame on Clinton. Can anyone say divide and conquer?
What’s especially ridiculous about the latest incident which concerns a photo of Obama dressed as a Somali elder during a visit to Kenya, is that the Obama campaign somehow considers this picture to be, “shameful, offensive fear-mongering,” and, “exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world.”
So let me get this straight… A picture of a U.S. Senator wearing the local traditional attire as a gesture of goodwill is shameful, offensive, and divisive? Oh wait, the locals in this case were Muslims, and as we all know, Obama wants nothing to do with Muslims. This is evident in the quite evident in the disgusted tone he uses when denying the ridiculous email accusations that he is a Muslim, saying the word as if it was the filthiest in the English language, before regaining his fake southern accent and declaring the number of years he’s been “prayin’ to Jesus.”
Why doesn’t Obama embrace his heritage proudly, saying something akin to, “Although I am a Christian, I am proud of both my Muslim and Christian heritage, and look forward to using this unique background as a tool in heeling the rift between our cultures.” If any candidate was to deny their Jewish or African-American heritage in such a manner, they would be accused of bigotry, but since the ancestry in question is Muslim, it’s apparently fine. Oh and of course Obama can do no wrong.
As Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams responded to Obama’s accusation,
Enough. If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely. This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry. We will not be distracted.
Another ridiculous aspect of the latest outrage of the Obama campaign is the fact that this photo has been around for years. I’ve received it in emails for weeks if not months now, and, as blogger Taylor Marsh and ABC News correspondent Jake Tapper both pointed out, it’s been on the internet at sites like this, continually since 2006. It wouldn’t take a Clinton dirt-digger to find it.
Regardless, if this kind of photo is evidence of a crime, Hillary, as you can see at the top of this post, is equally guilty. The difference being, she is not ashamed.
